Oh Emmy Darling

OK I may be a bit behind on this, but I blame my insane schedule and sickness this last week. So here are some of my favorites from the Emmy Awards Red Carpet. 🙂  I loved the retro Hollywood glamour that so many of the looks evoked.

I Loved Ginnifer Goodwin’s vibrant Monique Lhuillier gown. Such a different take on line and texture, with such a simplistic silhouette. The perfect combo! Love!

Emily VanCamp rocked this grey pleated J. Mendel gown…simply stunning!  the intricate details make this absoutely gorgeous.

Of course, just about every time I see Tina Fey, I love her gowns she sports on the runway. I love her in this burgundy Vivienne Westwood gown. The beautiful gold embroidery adds the perfect touch of shine to this gorgeous gown.

And last but by no means the least, we have Leslie Mann in my favorite look of the night.  This retro inspired Naeem Kahn gown just pops. I love love love the lacy looking bodice and the bright mango colored skit together. Such a perfect look. And not to mention the pockets and the high bun…. any dress that has pockets is way beyond perfect. And well….I love high buns 🙂

Good night all!

Going on a Vintage Hunt: Etsy Obsession

Who doesn’t love some great vintage finds?  I could spend all day at thrift shop or vintage stores even just looking at everything! Today I stumbled upon something amazing!  Aiseirigh Vintage is this great collection of some adorable vintage pieces. I’m talking 22 pages of vintage wonderfulness….I couldn’t even make it through them all!

What I love most about this shop is that she took the time and care to do some beautifully styled shoots with some of her pieces. Sometimes shots of pieces on dress forms are just great and all you need (and she does have a lot of those, and they are wonderfully done!), but these romantic shots take it above and beyond, drawing me in that much quicker. Take a look at these breath taking photos by Purple Tree Wedding Photography.

Silver Screen Inspired

I know it’s been a little while since my last post, but my life just likes to get crazier by the minute. 🙂

I don’t know about you, but I love movies. I especially love those beautiful and perfect couples from the movies.  Let’s celebrate the style that speaks from the hearts of these wonderful characters.

Now every girl loves a good Jane Austen story. Personally, Pride and Prejudice is a favorite. I love the romance of it all! (what girl doesn’t) I have created a little collection of items that pull you into that romantic world of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy.

(Starting from the upper left) // Pedal Capelet from Katie Jean Designs,  Sheer Victorian Inspired Dress from Jess Amity,  Steam Punk Victorian Dress from Pom Pom Clothing, Mr & Mrs. Darcy, Mixed Flowers Headband from Mignonne Handmade Mignonne Handmade Photo: Sloan Photographers//

My sister and I are both avid lovers of the Beatles and the amazing movie showcasing their music, Across the Universe. I have always been a sucker for the 60s and 70s fashion. 🙂

//Across the Universe, Floral Meadows Blouse from Twig and Spoke Vintage (top right),  Double Stranded Hippie Headband from Tify Core (bottom right), Evan Rachel Wood in Across the Universe, Tunic Wrap around Top from George and Jane//

Finally, probably one of my favorite movies of all time, 500 Days of Summer. If you don’t agree, then we may need to reconsider our friendship! 😉 I love Zooey Deschanel’s vintage/retro style! it compliments Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s simple and unique sense of style.

//Blue and Green 60s dress from George and Jane, Vintage Party Dance Shoes from Heart City Vintage,  500 Days of Summer (middle right), Brilliant Ball Bow tie from Dapper and Dash, Vintage Cotton Plaid Dress from Heart City Vintage (bottom left)//

Hope you all are doing splendidly! Look out for a few new posts in the new few days!

Well don’t you know? That’s Brigitte Bardot!

This beauty is  French model, singer, actress and animal rights activist. She was best known as a sex symbol in the 60s. You have already seen my love for the 60s, so this is no surprise that this post is devoted to the one and only Brigitte Bardot. I have also found some accessories on Etsy that capture the essence of the Ms. Bardot. Enjoy!

Swinging Sixties Inspiration

So in the past month or so, I have latched on to the amazing beauty and simplicity of the 60s style. While browsing Pinterest once again, (big surprise) I found this loaded Tumblr, with pages and pages (literally 1800 pages!!)  of authentic photos from the “swinging sixties.” I sat for just about an hour, going through these awesome pictures.Just a warning, going to this site may lead to hours lost. 😉 I was also excited to find out, there are similar sites dedicated to the 50s and 70s! Might save those for future posts….

Along with these pictures, I have found some Etsy shops where you could find similar looks. Get your vintage on!

all vintage photos come from http://theswingingsixties.tumblr.com/

Original Sixties swim suit has that “beach party” vibe to it

I found an awesome shop that specializes in vintage styled swim suits… I just love her stuff and can’t wait for it to get warmer!

The shop is called Fables by Barrie! This suit pictured below happens to be on sale! 😉

This lacy look can actually be found in one of Katie Jean’s Designs! One of my favorite items in her shop actually 🙂 It gives a more updated style to the lacy top above.

Next there is this adorable collared dress….

This Etsy find caught my eye due to the  updated styling. I loved the fabric used, the accessories, all down to the location of the photo shoot too. This shop is definitely one to keep my eye on.

This dress is from Whispy Love. Love the rest of her stuff too!!

This is the last one for now… Loving the drop waist and simplicity to it all..

And now this last Etsy shop, have some really amazing stuff! I want to go buy everything! Such a cute retro inspired style. Absolutely wonderful! The shop name is Vivat Veritas. This drop waist dress gives the original look a modern twist that makes it a little more casual and fitting for today :)…and again…. LOVE the mustard color!

This was such a fun post to write, so look out for future posts like this. May have to continue with the 60s and eventually the 50s and 70s!

Goodnight! ❤ Amy
