As much as I can, I try and spend time with my sister (Katie of Katie Jean Designs) and her amazing family. Last night we got to celebrate her husband Jonce’s birthday! I love getting some practice with my camera, and loved even more getting to capture this great night. Katie and Jonce will soon be moving along with their two little boys, Caden and Clive, so I am trying to soak up as much time with them as I can.
I decided to help Katie out and make dinner and a cake for the evening. We made raw vegan tacos (one of our faves) from My New Roots. This recipe is amazing… you can find it HERE.
Then I found this AMAZING new blog called This Rawsome Vegan Life. While drooling over all the recipes, I found a raw, vegan, carrot cake! Super simple to make and came out delicious! We topped it with lavender, pistachios and walnuts. The lavender added such an amazing flavor. You can find that recipe HERE.
And the rest of the night was full of impromptu portraits, blowing out candles and chess….
What a beautiful family. Love you Jonce! Happy Birthday!
I can’t believe I started blogging, already 1 year ago… and so much has changed! Our blog is heading for a whole new start and I can’t wait to share it with you all!
I have been running around crazy lately with my busy schedule. But one thing that is coming up for me…I am moving! I am moving into a small guest house in Willo, the greatest historic district in Phoenix. I cant wait to give it my own little touch and share it. This is basically the first time I have been able to completely give a place my own style and make it my own. Can’t wait to show you all once it’s all done.
Anyways! To celebrate our almost 1 year birthday, here are some pretty little finds.
Although many of you may consider all those big red carpet events some of the biggest of the year, you are wrong. Sorry to break it to you. But if you missed out on this amazing birthday party I threw for my sister and her husband along with some of her friends….you missed it. Plain and simple. With a vintage inspired, Big Fish, countryside, early 50s theme.. this party was complete with Cocktails in mason jars, beer in the wheelbarrow, whiskey tasting and of course pie. We had a wonderful confetti pinata, made by my brother, chocolate tasting, bobbing for apples (which almost every guy actually did) and a bounce house in the back for the kids. It was a great night of relaxing eating pie on picnic blankets socializing and of course celebrating Katie and Jonce’s 30th Birthdays. I had so much fun planning this with my sister’s friends Paige and Kym. Although it was a lot of work, it totally was worth it! So here are some wonderful pictures, all courtesy of Ventola Photography. There are quite a few pictures. But there were just so many unique and wonderful moments! Enjoy!
One of my favorite parts of the whole experience was a surprise for the Birthday Guests! We had some of Katie and Jonce’s friends design special garments and pieces especially for the two to wear to their party. The day before we delivered the garments with a formal invitation to the party! They had known ahead of time where and when the party was…but none of the theme or decorating details and it was killing them! Katie’s dress is by the wonderful Monique Sandoval from Ouma, and her headpiece is by the talented Jenn Wood from Mignonne Handmade. Jonce’s bow tie is from the local wonder Aaron Kimberlin and his bowties at Dapper and Dash.
