Silver Screen Inspired

I know it’s been a little while since my last post, but my life just likes to get crazier by the minute. ūüôā

I don’t know about you, but I love movies. I especially love those beautiful and perfect couples from the movies. ¬†Let’s celebrate the style that speaks from the hearts of these wonderful characters.

Now every girl loves a good Jane Austen story. Personally, Pride and Prejudice is a favorite. I love the romance of it all! (what girl doesn’t) I have created a little collection of items that pull you into that romantic world of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy.

(Starting from the upper left) // Pedal Capelet from Katie Jean Designs,  Sheer Victorian Inspired Dress from Jess Amity,  Steam Punk Victorian Dress from Pom Pom Clothing, Mr & Mrs. Darcy, Mixed Flowers Headband from Mignonne Handmade Mignonne Handmade Photo: Sloan Photographers//

My sister and I are both avid lovers of the Beatles and the amazing movie showcasing their music, Across the Universe. I have always been a sucker for the 60s and 70s fashion. ūüôā

//Across the Universe, Floral Meadows Blouse from Twig and Spoke Vintage (top right),  Double Stranded Hippie Headband from Tify Core (bottom right), Evan Rachel Wood in Across the Universe, Tunic Wrap around Top from George and Jane//

Finally, probably one of my favorite movies of all time, 500 Days of Summer. If you don’t agree, then we may need to reconsider our friendship! ūüėČ I love Zooey Deschanel’s vintage/retro style! it compliments Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s simple and unique sense of style.

Hope you all are doing splendidly! Look out for a few new posts in the new few days!

And the winner’s are…….

It’s here! After long deliberation and thought, we have our winners! Sorry about the delay in posting this, I wanted it to be just perfect!

This creative family put together a great collection of not just one wardrobe, but three!¬†Three generations¬†of fashion, have caught our eye and have won our “In Your Closet” contest!

Laurie Bohannen, daughter Darcy Carter, and granddaughter Gwen Carter have such great pieces that they were so wonderful to share with us. Their theme as they sent in their entry was a stylish family, throughout the generations, such a cute way of presenting it!

Starting off with a group shot of this lovely bunch!

Andfirst up we have the fashion legend of the family, Laurie

Love the simplicity of this outfit; the¬†accessories¬†top it off as well! Not too matchy matchy, but coordinating! And I just LOVE the combo of coral and teal ūüėČ

Laurie would classify her style as:  Classic with a Modern/Retro Flare

Her favorite shops: TJ Maxx & Stein Mart

Her favorite items: Skinny Jeans – Dress them up or throw them on with a tee

Her dream items or closet: A Closet designed by Classy Closets. Everything would be organized and easy to find and get to. It would be filled with basic pieces and lots of accessories!

Important considerations when picking out an outfit: When you are 50 plus, one of the most important things
when choosing an outfit would be, does it look flattering and age
appropriate.

And now her daughter Darcy!

As Laurie’s daughter, no wonder Darcy got handed down some serious style!

Darcy (on the left) is perfectly rocking this great grey dress with the mustard cardigan, perfect color pop! I also adore the chunky bracelet to tie it all together, so cute!

Darcy’s Style: Boho Glam
Her favorite shops: Forever 21 & Banana Republic

I know I am repeating this photo….it is just too cute! I love this striped maxi dress on Darcy. The¬†cardigan¬†and necklace go perfectly without making it “too much.” Like I have said so many times….simplicity is key.

Her favorite item: Michael Kors & Marc Jacobs Sunglasses (they go with everything)

Dream Items: Kate Spade Items and Jimmy Choo shoes

Important Considerations when choosing an outfit: 3 considerations:
‚Äď Corporate Looks – needs to be dressy, trendy, and ok for a bike
(yes heels do work on a bike)
‚Äď Out on the Town – Love skinny jeans with flowing tops – flats or heels
‚Äď Around with the Girls – comfortable but not frumpy

And finally Gwen! The “fashion rookie” of the bunch

This little girl definitely knows how to pose. ūüôā Do her sandals come in my size? Such a cute little Summer outfit!

Gwen’s Style: Sporty Retro
Her favorite shops: Old Navy, Hissyfits & Naartije

With such little clothes, Gwen only takes up half a closet, but that half is jam packed with adorable outfits!

Her favorite item: Yoga Pants & Dresses
Dream Items: Hello Kitty Shirt ¬†(hey me too! ūüôā )

Again these sandals are so cute! And I am in love with this retro look she has going. The great green color and pattern along with the Peter Pan collar…just perfect! And of course you just have to love that bow.

Important Considerations when picking out clothing: Style & Comfort

And such a great pose! Once again I love the pattern on this dress, retro and fun!

So Congrats to Laurie, Darcy, and Gwen! We will contact you soon in regards to your Alisier skirt! You all will have to decide who gets it! ūüėČ

We all loved reading and experiencing your style so thank you for the great entry!

And also! thank you to everyone who entered, it really was a tough choice you were all great!

If you are anxious for another giveaway…. stay tuned! You never know when the next one will be! Have a great weekend and as always feel free to share! Thanks for reading ūüôā

Oh Man! Chronicles of the Stylish Man

Here’s to all the stylish guys or to the guys who wanna be stylish out there. This one is for you. ¬†A friend of mine introduced me to Travis Ladue, our featured stylish guy of the week. I had the great opportunity of meeting up with Travis personally to hold a small photo shoot featuring his closet and style, to show you guys out there that fashion and style is¬†definitely¬†not just for girls. I would have to say that Travis may have more style and poise than any guy I have ever met!

I am also using this post to plug our quickly¬†approaching¬†¬†contest deadline! See the end of this post for more details. ūüôā

So everyone…. meet Travis! Such an amazingly nice guy, I can’t believe we got him to help us out on this!

Amy: Tell us about yourself…What do you do, where are you from?
¬†Travis:¬†I am an Arizona native. Born and raised in Tempe. I’m about a month away from completing my degree in graphic design at ASU. If that wasn’t enough I work at TunnelBravo, a Mesa based graphic design firm.
Shirt: Vintage (from my grandfather) T-Shirt: The Gap. Pants: Levis
The things Travis always has with him
Amy: Where is your favorite place to shop?
Travis: It really depends on what I’m looking for. I tend to get staples like plain t-shirts at the Gap, button downs and other miscellaneous items at J.Crew, and jeans where ever I can get a good deal on Levi’s.
Amy: Do you have any closet staples/things you couldn’t go one week without?
Travis: Levi’s 511s, I wear jeans year-round, they are a definite closet staple.
Shirt: The Gap. Pants: Levis. Shoes: Clarks Desert Boots
Shirt: J.Crew. Pants: Levis. Shoes: Clarks Desert Boots
Shirt: J.Crew. Pants: Levis. Shoes: Sperry Top Siders
Amy: What is the most inspiring place you have visited?
Travis: I get inspiration for my work every time I step out of my bubble; every time I get to travel and experience something new, I am inspired. I recently traveled to Palm Springs and I am still getting inspiration from that trip. So until my next vacation, I will say Palm Springs.
Jacket: J.Crew. Sweater: J.Crew. Pants: Levis. Shoes: Clarks Desert Boots
Amy: To you, what is most important when choosing a days attire?
Travis: Comfort, if something isn’t comfortable, you will be in a bad mood all day.
Shirt: Banana Republic. Pants: Levis. Shoes: Clarks Desert Boots
And now for my favorite look! I absolutely loved all of his clothes, but these amazing Hawaiian Reyn Spooner shirts were just amazing! Not just any guy could rock these, but Travis does with ease!

Shirt: Reyn Spooner. Pants: Levis. Shoes: Sperry Top Siders

Amy: Do you have a favorite spot in Phoenix?
Travis: At night, driving down the 51 south, when you hit Northern and you can see the entire valley lit up.

Simplicity! No crazy shoes, simple staples that will go with almost everything and compliment it!

Amy: Do you have any tips for guys who strive for a fresh stylish influence in their wardrobe, without totally going over the top?
Travis: Don’t get too crazy. Make sure you know your strong suits and stick to them. For instance: I can’t wear certain colors, so I stay far away from them.
But if you want to add something fresh, start small. Like adding some crazy colored socks into the mix.

So you are probably sitting there thinking that you have seen this guy somewhere before…. Well you probably havent, but he does look a lot like this guy! ( Travis is constantly mistaken for Jake Gyllenhaal) ūüėČ go figure

Best part is, is that Jake Gyllenhaal was in Phoenix, and was mistaken for Travis!
